Sample Class: Instructional Drawing

This skills-based class is an opportunity to sample our 5 week course before you commit! Class is open to ages 8yrs-adult at a beginning level. Our afternoon 5 week course starts Wednesday May 8th and ends on June 5th. Our evening 5 week course begins Friday May 10th and ends June 7th. You can register by selecting the first day of the course on the website calendar!

Shanna will give you a sample of techniques for achieving realism with traditional media. 

In the 5 week class, we will dive into:

  • Practice the basics of contour, value, proportion, depth, and perspective. 
  • Measure spacial distances with your pencil.
  • Dive into media exploration including, graphite, pen, and charcoal.
  • Learn how to accurately define areas of light and shadow.
  • After learning the basics, we will draw from a photo (of your choice) by creating a grid and drawing contour. 
  • Learn to draw from a still life
  • Receive edits and critique from Shanna to help you complete your drawings. 

Shanna is a classically trained artist with a bachelor’s degree in drawing and painting from KSU. Materials will be provided so just come ready to learn!
